The satellite GSAT-5P was hit by a snag Saturday in the first stage itself after its launch from the Sriharikota space center. It was the second failure for ISRO this year. A previous developmental flight of the geosynchronous satellite launch vehicle mission in April also ended as a failure with the rocket plunging into the Bay of Bengal. Photo of the Dec. 20 total lunar eclipse from Cochranville, Pa. taken by Kevin R. Witman, using a Meade LX50 10" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope and a Canon XS DSLR camera. A blood-red moon hung in the black sky on the darkest night of the year last night. Skywatchers around the country got some gorgeous views of the moon, as long as it wasn't obscured by clouds.
