Origami boosts solar panel productivity

In these computer simulated images of 3-D solar panels the one on the left has 64 flat, triangular, double-sided panels, the one on the right is a simplified version. 3-D solar panels could in principle absorb more light and generate more power than a flat panel of the same area footprint, which could be useful when available space is limited.

During December and January, PCWorld and testing partner, Novarum Inc., tested the download speeds, upload speeds and network dependability of the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon 3G networks from 20 locations in each of 13 U.S. cities. AT&T says it has worked hard to improve its much-maligned third-generation (3G) network over the last eight months,  and the results of PCWorld's latest 13-city, 3G network performance tests suggest that the network has indeed undergone a drastic makeover.

There are no words for her family and loved ones, whose loss is beyond measure.

Orcas, also known as killer whales, face the camera at Kamogawa SeaWorld in Kamogawa, Japan. Experts say that a fatal orca attack at SeaWorld in Orlando may have been tied to the isolation and breeding of the male marine mammal. Tilikum, the male killer whale that fatally injured trainer Dawn Brancheau in front of a stunned audience at SeaWorld in Orlando on Wednesday, was a breeding "stud" often housed in isolation.
