Oct. 12: Millions of Americans who rely on BlackBerry smartphones had a frustrating day, unable to get e-mails or wireless internet connections. What began a few days ago as a service disruption overseas, spread Wednesday to North America. NBC’s Tom Costello reports.  (Nightly News)Research In Motion on Wednesday told some North American clients that a backlog of messages is substantial and unlikely to be cleared until Thursday morning on the U.S. East Coast.  It said delivery of email was sporadic for roughly half of BlackBerry users globally.
