Facebook's shaking up the claim that any two individuals in the world are separated by no more than six degrees, by suggesting that there's an average of 4.74 "hops" â or lines â connecting every person to every other person.

In a move that would seem to be against its own interests, the Business Software Alliance â which includes Microsoft, Apple, Intel and Adobe, and focuses heavily on anti-piracy efforts â is pulling its support of federal legislation aimed at stopping Internet piracy.
