Congress hears benefits of synthetic biology

Craig Venter, founder, chairman and president of the J. Craig Venter Institute, came to Capitol Hill on Thursday to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee about synthetic genomics.Usually, when scientists announce some new discovery in a journal, they don't get summoned to testify before Congress the next week.
