Ancient saber-toothed cat was 'cookie cutter' cat

Some 1 million years ago a saber-toothed cat, now identified as Xenosmilis, took down prey with knifelike teeth; the beast is shown here drinking at a pool of water.A new type of saber-toothed cat has just been revealed: the "cookie-cutter cat," whose name comes from how it chomped large, clean chunks of flesh from its prey.
