Sun erupts with biggest storm in seven years

A composite ultraviolet image from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory shows a Jan. 23 outburst from the upper right quadrant of the sun's disk that registered just one step below an X-class flare.A powerful solar eruption is expected to blast a stream of charged particles past Earth on Tuesday, as the strongest radiation storm since 2005 rages on the sun.
