Just how unlucky is Friday the 13th?

Is Friday the 13th truly a downer? Some of the oft-cited studies suggesting that it is were written with tongue in cheek, while others fail to take the psychological effects of superstition into account.Is there any statistical proof to support the notion that Friday the 13th is unlucky? Some such studies have been reported, but you have to take them with a grain of salt thrown over your shoulder.
