It's a do-or-die day for Mars Curiosity rover

Data controller Nick Lam monitors the Mars Science Laboratory spacecraft from the Deep Space Network's control room at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., on Thursday. The probe is due to land on Mars on Sunday night.After eight years of planning and eight months of interplanetary travel, NASA's Mars Science Laboratory is finally facing its seven minutes of terror, leading to a landing on the Red Planet. And there'll be nothing anyone on Earth can do but watch.
