Eli Shukron, an archaeologist for the Israel Antiquities Authority, climbs down a ladder into an ancient public water reservoir near the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City on Thursday. The finding shows that the Jerusalem’s water consumption during the First Jewish Temple period was not based solely on the output of the Gihon Spring but also relied on public reservoirs, according to Shukron.Archaeologists have found an ancient water reservoir in Jerusalem that may have been used by pilgrims coming to the Temple Mount, the Israeli Antiquities Authority says.
