The video game-filled shipment that eventually arrived came from a non-profit started by a former Army Airborne Ranger.

About nine years ago I flew Ryanair from London to a town called Maastricht in the southernmost, dangly, uvula-looking part of The Netherlands. I don't remember how much my flight actually cost, but I promise you I've spent more this week alone in the candy machine at work.

The Internet isn't a good excuse to be a bad friend
[ Sun, 11 Nov 2012 15:49:50 GMT ]
We're beyond over-sharing â we're perma-sharing. Between texts, Twitter, and Facebook, we have more vessels for venting than we have thoughts worth sharing. So you might assume, with all these ways to communicate, that a friend in trouble will make it obvious to everyone.

[ Fri, 9 Nov 2012 14:50:45 GMT ]
Home automation â the ability to control every aspect of your home's daily operation â hasn't caught on. But a new kind of LED light bulb could flip the switch for American homeowners by tying them to something they already love: their smartphones.

2 new emperor penguin colonies spied
[ Fri, 9 Nov 2012 23:03:57 GMT ]
Researchers have finally found a long-sought colony of emperor penguins in eastern Antarctica, but they say it's been split in two due to a glacier break. Moreover, a tally of the 6,000 chicks among these two populations suggests there are more emperor penguin parents in this part of the frozen continent than previously thought.

Iceman Otzi tied to Stone Age farming
[ Fri, 9 Nov 2012 16:41:37 GMT ]
Otzi the Iceman, an astonishingly well-preserved Neolithic mummy found in the Italian Alps in 1991, was a native of Central Europe, not a first-generation émigré from Sardinia, new research shows. And genetically, he looked a lot like other Stone Age farmers throughout Europe.
