A generation ago, when the Electronic Privacy Communication Act was passed, "the cloud," a term for massive server storage of private emails, documents and photos, didn't exist. Now some lawmakers are looking to amend the 1986 law so that information stored in the cloud would require a warrant by the police who want that information from either the cloud storage provider or the individual.

A group calling itself the ZCompanyHackingCrew has taken credit for the defacing of the Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Blogger accounts belonging to Israeli Vice Prime Minister Silvan Shalom. The same group has posted what it claims are the partial contents of Shalom's Gmail inbox along with contact information and a variety of seemingly confidential documents.

A Wall Street analyst who tweeted misinformation that was then spread by others about the New York Stock Exchange's trading floor being under more than three feet of water because of Hurricane Sandy, may face criminal charges. The analyst, Shashank Tripathi, 29, posted the tweet during Sandy's onslaught Monday night, and it created even more panic, with more than enough real tragedy and confusion to go around as New York and New Jersey were slammed by the storm.
